NORMAN MOONEY


Norman Mooney, a Dublin-born artist, has been a significant figure in the art world since his graduation from the National College of Art in Dublin in 1992. Following his studies, he was honored with a position in the prestigious Third Degree program at the Irish Museum of Modern Art. In 1994, Norman moved to New York City, where he has since been a dynamic presence, showcasing his work both locally and internationally for over two decades.

His recent exhibitions, including Lightscape at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Nanhai Art Festival in Guangdong, China, and a joint exhibition with Carolina Sardi at Waterhouse & Dodd in New York, reflect his diverse and profound artistic journey. Norman's creations are a blend of the physical and metaphysical, delving into the elemental and cyclical nature of our world. His art, which includes sculptures, installations, drawings, and works on paper, is deeply rooted in materiality, pattern, scale, and sensory experience. He employs a variety of materials like smoke, glass, steel, and resin, with an emphasis on experimentation and process in his methodology.
